After a couple years of chronic tendonitis in my left leg, I decided to start running again and, as typical, around mile 3, my leg would act up. My wife suggested I give Vibrams Fivefingers a try. She used the classic Vibrams for Yoga and various other aerobic exercise activities. I got the KSOs because I needed something a little more enclosed for winter. The first time I tried these on, I was convinced I would never be able to use these because my smallest toe curls under the toe next to it on both feet (genetics). So, unable to get my small toe into the last finger, I started running very softly on a local high school track, each run about a mile. The ground always felt smooth in my Vibrams and because I was running in a more "barefoot" style, I was now landing softly on the front of my feet so I was no longer feeling a heel impact that I previous felt in my Mizuno and Saucony sneakers. One thing I did feel though was my calf muscles being pushed to a limit they have not seen in some time so I frequently had very sore calf muscles the next day, as they adjusted to this new barefoot style in which they would be responsible for doing a lot more work.
